AASHE seeks candidates to serve on its board of directors and Advisory Council that can lend their time, talent and expertise to advance all aspects of AASHE’s mission. In particular, AASHE welcomes applications from Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and those with expertise in racial equity and social justice, fundraising and/or corporate engagement. Interested candidates should submit an application by Nov. 4.

Georgia Tech Unveils Sustainability Strategic Plan
Serving as an implementation roadmap for sustainability at the university over the next 10 years, the new Sustainability Next Plan features six key priorities–operations, education for sustainable development, sustainability research, culture and organization, climate solutions and campus as a living and learning lab. The university allocated $1.25 million in support of plan initiatives and is currently crafting a governance structure to ensure plan progress.
Princeton Review Releases 2023 Guide to Green Colleges
The Princeton Review recently released its 13th annual Guide to Green Colleges, profiling 455 universities and colleges with a commitment to sustainability. Of the 455 schools selected for the 2023 edition, 421 are in the U.S., 26 are in Canada, two are in Taiwan and one (each) is in Ecuador, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, and Morocco.
PLAN Releases Top 10 2022 Zero Waste Institutions
The Post-Landfill Action Network (PLAN) recently released its list of Top 10 Zero Waste Campuses in the U.S., as assessed by PLAN’s Atlas Zero Waste Certification Program. Atlas is a holistic assessment framework for measuring waste reduction on college and university campuses.

Request for Comment: AASHE STARS 3.0: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
As part of the development process for the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) 3.0, AASHE is seeking public comment on a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion section slated for inclusion in the new version (projected release is currently fourth quarter of 2023). AASHE encourages feedback from stakeholders who may have relevant expertise or interest in participating. Public comment is open through Dec. 31.

AASHE members can automatically save 30 percent off registration to the next Washington & Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC), which aims to inspire change, and facilitate action and collaboration based on the conference theme: Mindscape/Landscape: Human Health, Social + Environmental Justice are Inextricably Linked. This event will take place March 6 – 8, 2023. The discount offer expires March 5, 2023.
Sulitest invites students to participate in the international TASK (The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge) pilot program. The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge is a measurement tool for individuals’ knowledge of sustainability. Responses to the survey will be analyzed in an effort to improve the tool. Pilot participants of TASK will receive a voucher to complete the official certificate for free once it is live in spring 2023. The pilot will be conducted until Nov.18.
International Student Challenge to Achieve Zero Hunger
The International Student Challenge to Achieve Zero Hunger invites undergraduate and graduate students to generate projects that will make a meaningful impact on global hunger and nutrition problems. Students teams will develop novel ways to achieve zero hunger, Sustainable Development Goal 2. This challenge is organized by a consortium of universities as part of the University Global Coalition Decade of Action Initiative. The interest form is due by Nov. 11.
