Romy here, reaching out about this year’s Phonathon, Woo-hoo! You are getting this email because you are one of our AMAZING supporters. Thank you so much for your support of COTS. We appreciate it more than you know. Can we count on you this year?
As the biggest fundraiser of the year for COTS, we have the important task of raising more than $250,000. This year’s Phonathon is going hybrid! What does hybrid mean? Our caller sheets will all be online, like last year. This helps us track goals in real time, and helps with the accuracy of data! We are looking for callers to either call from home, host a virtual calling party from home, or come to 95 North Avenue to call with us. All of these options will use the same virtual tools. We may adjust the in-person element based on interest and safety recommendations around COVID.
For the week of Monday, Nov. 28-Thursday, Dec. 1 we need callers to reach out to our loyal donors. We hope that from 5:30-8:00 p.m. each evening that week, you will commit to calling our supporters to ask them to consider a gift to COTS again this year. We will only call each donor once. So, if you don’t reach them on your first attempt, we will have instructions on leaving them a detailed voice mail message.
We have developed some voluntiers to help motivate you to call more!
- Platinum volunteer: You will receive a goodie bag including snacks, gifts, and vouchers from local business supporters, a special thank you token, as well as all the instructions and information needed to volunteer. You will volunteer for 4 nights of calls (a minimum of 80 calls) takes approx. 8 – 10 hours.
- Gold volunteer: You will receive a goodie bag including snacks and vouchers from local business supporters, a special thank you token, as well as all the instructions and information needed to volunteer. You will volunteer for 3 nights of calls (a minimum of 60 calls) takes approx. 6 – 8 hours.
- Silver volunteer: You will receive a packet with a voucher from a local business supporter, a special thank you token, as well as all the instructions and information needed to volunteer. You will volunteer for 2 nights of calls (a minimum of 40 calls) takes approx. 4 – 5 hours.
- Bronze volunteer: You will receive a special thank you token, as well as all the instructions and information needed to volunteer. You will volunteer for 1 night of calls (a minimum of 20 calls) takes approx. 2 – 3 hours.
All of the supporters on your list will have received a personalized Phonathon Mailing Package before your call including an ask letter, a donation envelope, and ‘More than Shelter’ information detailing all the services COTS provides. Your call is simply a follow-up to make sure they received this outreach and encourage them to take action.
You will need a cell phone or a laptop/computer with internet access to participate; familiarity and comfort with Google forms is important. We will provide you with online Zoom training and support, and we will supply you with your special COTS Phonathon Care package as noted above.
