Paid Opportunity for Students *** Coordinator on Food Purchasing Project

Are you a student or recent graduate who is interested in building a just and sustainable food system? With all that is going on in the world have you been wondering how you can be more involved in creating a food system world in which everyone can thrive? If so, Real Food Challenge has an opportunity for you.

We are hiring an Anchors in Action Standards Core Team Organizer (“CTO”)!

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a student or recent graduate who will be bridging food sovereignty, racial equity, and climate justice with institutional values-based food procurement.

Anchors in Action (AiA) alliance is a national cross-sector partnership among Center for Good Food Purchasing, Health Care Without Harm, and Real Food Challenge that includes hospitals, K-12 schools, municipalities, and institutions of higher ed.

These institutions have the potential to collectively build a food system that truly nourishes the earth, workers, and us all. Now, AiA is embarking on a project to create a unified set of food procurement standards by doing a joint revision of our various metrics.

What does this commitment entail?

  • Support project coordination through meeting scheduling and facilitation, managing project timelines, and organizing stakeholder contacts;
  • Co-develop and implement a communication strategy for the AiA Standards project;
  • Create tools and resources to ready anchor institutions (hospitals, colleges, universities, K-12 schools, municipal institutions) for the adoption of the Standards;
  • Support the respective AiA organizations in network engagement;

The Standards CTO will commit up to 12 hours in a typical week and will be paid $15.50/hour. The role will last through December 2021 and may require occasional weekend and evening work.
