Why We Cycle – Film Screening and Discussion – Nov 19 at 7 PM EST AND Dec 3 at 12 PM EST

Local Motion, in partnership with The Vermont Clean Cities Coalition, is proud to present a free, virtual screening of Why We Cycle.

There is a 11/19 (7-9pm) showing for general audience (with panel) and a 12/3 (12-2pm) showing for industry practitioners, but welcome you to attend whichever best fits your schedule.

To the Dutch, cycling is as normal as breathing. In this documentary, ‘Why we Cycle,’ we take a ride with ordinary cyclists and specialists from a variety of disciplines. These conversations uncover some obvious, but even more hidden effects of cycling on people, societies, and the organization of cities. This screening will be followed by a live discussion on Microsoft Teams with a panel of local stakeholders, all of whom we consider to be experts in the fields of sustainability and public transportation infrastructure. Panelists for 11/19 include…

  • Michele Boomhower, Director of Policy, Planning and Intermodal Development, Vermont Agency of Transportation
  • Representative Curt McCormack, Vermont House of Representatives
  • Amy Seidl, Associate Director of the Environmental Program, The University of Vermont
  • Luis Vivanco, Professor of Anthropology, The University of Vermont
