North Country Camps – Summer Job Opportunities for Aspiring Educators

My name is Barry Needleman.  I’m the Chair of the Board of Directors of the North Country Camps Foundation.  We operate the North Country Camps (NCC) (Camp Lincoln for boys and Camp Whippoorwill for girls) in the Adirondack Mountains.  This past summer we celebrated our 100th season.

We’re seeking staff members for the 2020 season who are interested in working with children in a rustic, community-based setting.  We’ve had many excellent aspiring educators on staff in the past.  We always appreciate the perspective they bring to the job.  Conversely, we offer a wonderful opportunity for them to gain valuable experience working extensively with kids.

NCC typically has about 170 campers each summer, ages 9-15.  Our season is 7+ weeks, although some campers do come for shorter periods.  We focus heavily on wilderness trips in the Adirondacks (hiking, backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, etc.) from 1 to 5 days in length.  We also have extensive in-camp programming revolving around building skills and community.

If you have particular students who you think may be interested in this kind of opportunity, please consider sharing this flyer with them.

Thanks very much.

Barry Needleman
