Anyone in higher education that has sustainability as part of their position is invited to complete the 2020 Higher Education Sustainability Staffing Survey conducted by AASHE. The deadline to contribute is Feb. 14.

Georgetown U Adopts Fossil Fuel Investments Policy

Under the new policy, the university will continue to make investments that target a market rate of return in renewable energy, energy efficiency and related areas while freezing new endowment investments in companies or funds whose primary business is the exploration or extraction of fossil fuels. Georgetown will also divest from public securities of fossil fuel companies within the next five years and divest from existing private investments in those companies over the next 10 years.

AASHE Member Discount: Discount on Climate Change & Health Certificate
Students, staff and faculty at AASHE member institutions are eligible for a 10 percent discount off an 18-week online certificate through Yale University’s School of Public Health that teaches about tools to address the health impacts of climate change.

Call for Nominations: 2020 ISCN Awards
The International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) invites submissions for its Sustainable Campus Excellence Awards. The awards promote landmark projects that demonstrate how environmental, social and economic issues provide opportunities for university administrations and faculty alike to improve campus infrastructure. The deadline to apply is March 4.

2020 International Green Gown Awards
The International Green Gown Awards recognize exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges. Supported by U.N. Environment, the program is open to any university or college, except where there is an existing Green Gown Awards program. The deadline to apply is March 31.

RFP: Waste & Recycling Behavior Change Consultant
The University of Florida is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to develop, implement and evaluate sustainable materials management marketing and behavior change communications and messaging. In particular, UF is seeking expert advice on consistent branding across campus and best practices for waste programs based on successful examples from peer higher education institutions in the U.S.

AASHE STARS Data Accuracy Video Series
The STARS Data Accuracy Video Series is a compilation of short videos that highlight tips and resources for submitting high-quality and accurate content for credits with high error rates. The series also contains a video describing differences between STARS 2.1 and 2.2, and a video that goes over where to find resources and support for conducting a STARS assessment.
