HALLOWEEN IN WINOOSKI 2019 – Volunteers are needed to help in several capacities at this annual even. Here’s how you can help out

Pumpkin Picking: Pumpkins are waiting to be picked for the annual Pumpkin Carving event at the Winooski Senior Center. Can you help? We need all hands on deck picking the pumpkins. We will be meeting at Whitcomb’s Land of Pumpkins and Corn Maze in Williston on Wednesday, October 16th at 4 PM.

Community Pumpkin Carving Support: Volunteers needed at the Winooski Senior Center to help carve pumpkins for Winooski Halloween. We are looking for people to carry pumpkins in and out of the Senior Center, carve the tops off, gut the pumpkins and ensure a safe and fun event for all. Volunteer for as long as you are able between the hours of 9-5 Saturday, October 19th or Sunday, October 20th.

Festival of Pumpkins – Rotary Park Set-Up Crew: Help Rotary Park come alive this Halloween. On Friday, October 25th help us load the jack o’ lanterns into Rotary Park, place candles in each jack o’ lantern, and light the candles. We will begin the park set up at 9:30 am and will start lighting at dusk.

HELP SELECT – Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to join its Family Selection Committee. Which is responsible for reviewing applications, meeting with prospective clients, and deciding who enters the homeownership program. The work is difficult, rewarding, and truly the heart of the organization.  2-3 hours per month commitment. Contact committee Chairperson Lillian Colasurdo at lilliancolasurdo@gmail.com.

OFFICE SUPPORT FOR HOSPICE STAFF – Bayada Hospice, a program designed to provide palliative care and emotional support to the terminally ill and their loved ones is seeking administrative volunteers to assist field staff with tasks such as assembling hospice information packets, managing inventory of supplies, making check-in calls to patients and more. INVASIVE PLANT REMOVAL & TRAIL WORK – Join The Nature Conservancy of Vermont stewardship staff in the effort to improve natural areas across the state. Multiple opportunities through November 5th. Contact volunteervt@tnc.org or call (802) 299-4425 ext. 106 for more details or to sign up.

TEEN SPACE – Fletcher Free Library is in need of volunteers to engage with teens after school or on Saturdays in the Library’s Teen Space. Volunteers can help teens locate library materials, monitor computer use, and more. Contact Rebecca Goldberg at 865-7216 or email rgoldberg@burlingtonvt.gov.

TIME WITH THE KIDS – Prevent Child Abuse Vermont is seeking a volunteer to supervise and play with children during a 90-minute time period on the first Tuesday of the month while their families meet to share a meal and support at locations in St. Albans and Burlington. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Contact Heather Niquette at 229-5724 or email hniquette@pcavt.org.
