April 2019
Once Upon a Time…
That’s a strange way to start a newsletter from CSWD – but stay with me, we do have a tale to tell.
Are you curious as to what happens AFTER you put items in your blue bin or cart? Is there a magical recycling fairy that waves her wand and POOF – your recycling disappears never to plague a landfill again? Several of you have mentioned that you ARE curious. Your wish is our command!
In this Digest, we reveal the first of several posts about what happens to items in the recycling process. Plastic, glass, paper, aluminum – all have very different paths that they follow. We will break them down for you one by one.
Our first post tells the tale of a lowly milk jug. Hold your breath as this common household container navigates the choppy domestic and global waters of recycling markets to find its new purpose in life!
What material would you like to hear about for our next post? OR if you have a different question, just ask it!
Warm regards,
Alise Certa
