No Waste Compost ?

Young local entrepreneurs Jake Wollman and Cam Scott began a unique business venture: urban compost pick up. When organic matter is sent to the landfill, it decomposes anaerobically, produceĀ immense amounts of greenhouse gasesĀ and takes up space that only non-recyclable or reusable items should. Mandatory composting is a clear solution to these, and many other, landfill problems. Vermontā€™s Universal Recycling and Composting Law (Act 148) will makeĀ discarding of food scraps in the landfill illegal by 2020.
Composting has to be the norm, but right now, haulers donā€™t have the time or infrastructure to pick up compost every week. Jake and Scott saw a need in their community, and started No Waste Compost. When you sign up for the service, you receive a compost bin and have several options: weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly curbside pick up. These range from $7-$12 per month, depending on the type of service you choose. There are add-ons (for a slight additional charge) for No Waste to wash your bin or give you a fresh compost bag each week. Split among roommates, itā€™s a small price to pay, and a weight off your shoulders!
