Champlain Psychology’s CAP Food Drive- Deadline November 11th

Next week, we will have our trip to the men’s prison in Newport, and the following week will be our big NEK day where the students engage with our team of professionals in the fields of psychology, social work, and human services. This food drive is entirely student run and is about gratitude and reciprocation for the enormous amount of energy poured into our future professionals by this delightful community. Our students will also have a box-decorating party where they jazz-up the boxes of food items with art and inspirational messages to brighten them up prior to delivery.

Previous Letter:

We are currently embarking on our 5th annual NEK food drive which will benefit the families of the Northeast Kingdom. As most of you are aware, this delightful community hosts a professional panel day for our first year students, giving them a rather large dose of the reality of working in the field of psychology/social work in a socio-economically compromised region of our beautiful state. It is a wonderful day loaded with very real stories as well as interactive workshops.

This bridge that has been created between two wonderful communities is something that we celebrate . . . as it has been a win-win situation thus far.  For many of our students, this experience has been life-changing.

We welcome all non-perishable items as well as items that food stamps do not cover such as tooth paste, paper towels, toilet paper, and Windex.

I do know that there is a specific need for kids’ after school snacks such as granola bars, fruit snacks, etc.

As many of you may know, the food shelf in mid-November is all but empty as food stamps run out by this time.

Items considered to be more frivolous such as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are certainly welcomed as well.

Drop-boxes should be pretty much everywhere . . . with headquarters being Freeman 200.

Once again, I am honored to be a member of this incredible community! Thank you in advance for your generosity!!!!

Best-
