Burlington Community Action Meeting – 11/20

Rights and Democracy

Now more than ever, we need to come together to defend our rights and our democracy.  We’re looking for people who are ready to roll up their sleeves to build the political revolution on a local, state and national level.

Join your neighbors this Sunday for a discussion around our hopes for our community and how we can organize to meet the challenges facing Vermont and our country.

What: Burlington RAD Community Action Meeting
When: Sunday, Nov 20th (2:00-3:30pm)
Where: Champlain Senior Center (241 N Winooski Ave, Burlington, VT)

You can also RSVP here on Facebook.

Join us on Sunday to discuss how we can support struggles locally and across the state and advance a bold vision to turn our communities around, including:

– Raising minimum wage to $15/hour by 2020 and expanding workers’ rights, including guaranteed paid family and medical leave.
– Increasing local participation in and control of charting Vermont’s energy future – a future in which fossil fuel pipelines are banned, clean water is accessible to all, and VT becomes 100% renewable energy state.
– Advancing equity and justice by strengthening our pay equity law, taking action to address racial bias in the justice system, and eliminating for-profit, private prisons.
– Creating a fair and equitable tax policy that strengthens our public goods including accessible high-quality childcare for all Vermont families, tuition-free state colleges for Vermonters, and a universal healthcare system with robust mental health and substance abuse services.
– Getting money out of politics and moving to public financing of elections.

In Unity,
James Haslam
