Volunteer Opportunity with Howard Center on Election Day

We are looking for a large group of volunteers for a community outreach project to be held on November 8.

This community outreach project requires around 100 volunteers staffed through Chittenden County polling places on Election Day, from 7am-7pm. We are looking for individual volunteers, or teams of two volunteers to go to one of twenty polling places around the county for two hour sessions (7-9, 11-1, and 5-7). These volunteers will be providing voters information and outreach pamphlets on our new Chittenden County crisis hotline, First Call for Chittenden County. This program improves on its predecessor, First Call, and offers one line and one team for quick, holistic responses to individuals in crisis of any age or in any location. Outside of the location, this event is apolitical: this is not a promotion of one candidate or another, it is not a ballot issue or response, we are simply seeking to reach the most people we can at the same time.

I am reaching out to you today to inquire if any student organizations might be interested in participating in this project, whether that be for volunteer hours or requirements (which we can provide documentation of, if necessary) or if any student groups have an interest in community health, mental health, communications or outreach. Is there a way to contact these students, or to reach out to the Champlain College community at large?

Please let me know if you can think of any organizations that might wish to provide volunteers, or if you have any questions regarding this opportunity. The best ways to reach me are through email, rebeccaj@howardcenter.org, or by calling me directly at (856) 76-9425. Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to your response.
