The following is a message from PLAN, the Post-Landfill Action Network
We are really excited to announce that the Post-Landfill Action Network, is hiring our 4th full-time staff member to help us expand and engage PLAN’s network of business partners and sponsors in a new position we are calling the Director of Development. Please feel free to forward this along to any candidates you feel would be qualified for the position.
We are looking for an individual with proven leadership and organizing experience in the sustainability and/or social business field who is ready for a fast-paced start-up environment.
The Post-Landfill Action Network is a nonprofit, cooperative network of student leaders working to end the cycle of waste on college campuses. Student groups on member campuses receive a variety of tools and support to help launch financially-sustainable programs that keep reusable and recyclable materials out of landfills. By building waste-reduction programs that deliver significant ecological and economic benefits to students and institutions, as well as educating students about waste problems and solutions, PLAN is helping build the foundation for a world without waste.
As part of that mission, we focus on building relationships with companies that are committed to the triple-bottom line of people, planet and profit and we strive to find ways to develop relationships that will benefit both parties. For example, we may partner with a carpet recycling company to help multiple campuses recycle materials within our network, or we may explore sponsorship with a social business that takes responsibility for their products and helps individuals reduce waste in their everyday lives.
This is an entry-level position in a fast-paced environment with a new and thriving nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will display a passion for environmental issues and social business and will showcase an exemplary record of developing professional networks with high profile individuals, foundations, and businesses. Success in this role will rely on an ability to solicit meetings with Corporate Sustainability contacts who may be developed into strategic partners or donors. The candidate will need to commute regularly to our Dover, NH office and likely travel for meetings/presentations with interested prospects. This is a highly collaborative team with each member independently managing specific roles while receiving support.
