U Cincinnati Clermont College Becomes 100% Wind Powered |
The university recently signed an agreement to purchase 100 percent of its electric supply with Green-e certified wind power renewable energy credits. This action is projected to reduce the university’s total annual greenhouse gas emissions by 16 percent. |
Ohio State U Announces Creation of Sustainability Institute |
At the opening of the Ohio State Community Engagement Conference, the university president announced the Sustainability Institute, which aims to promote the teaching of sustainability; drive research; work with public and private partners to develop sustainable solutions; engage students in learning about sustainability through research and experiences; and help the university in attracting students, talent and resources. |

Call for Reviewers: 2019 AASHE Conference & Expo |
Higher education sustainability stakeholders are encouraged to sign up as conference abstract reviewers for AASHE 2019. The expertise of reviewers will help develop a conference program that includes a variety of high-quality sessions to meet the diverse interests of attendees. Reviewers can expect to examine roughly 25 proposals on topics in their area of expertise. The deadline to sign up is March 8, which is also the deadline for the call for proposals and will not be extended. |

U.S. House Climate Change Sign-On Letter |
Any member of an HEI is invited to sign (with a .edu address) a letter being sent to Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, about the importance of a strong climate action agenda in the new Congress. The letter will also have support from other sector leaders and will be publicly released when it is sent to Pelosi in February. The deadline for signing is Feb. 1. |
2019 Colby Summer Institute in Environmental Humanities |
Colby College is hosting a Summer Institute in Environmental Humanities from Aug. 5-10, 2019 with the aim of engaging with contemporary issues in the environmental humanities through participatory, interdisciplinary events, including seminars and workshops. Participants will collectively explore how this developing field contributes to the theorization, imagination and practice of socially just and ecologically hopeful futures. Applications are due Feb. 1. |

New Report: Business School Rankings for the 21st Century |
This new report gives an overview of the current state of business school rankings and suggests possible changes to help align business school education with the needs of the 21st century. The report suggests 20 actions to improve evaluation and ranking, including incorporating criteria that measure environmental, social and/or SDG-linked factors within core curricula, research output, hiring and special research clusters, and awarding credit to schools that train students who work for low-paying but societally valuable organizations after graduation. |
