Hello to all of our Fair Trade Campaigns,

We hope you’re as excited to begin the new year as we are! The year begins with the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Valentine’s Day, and the start of Black History Month. These are all great times to consider the many ways that we as Fair Trade advocates can spread love and promote equality for all. To help everybody start the year off on a strong note, we are excited to announce several upcoming events within the Northeast and Fair Trade Campaigns as a whole.

First we have our upcoming Digital Round table, Compassionate Consumerism: How to be a Fair Trade Valentine on January 25th.

Second, we have begun our Fair Trade Valentine program that allows us to directly thank the many farmers and artisans that make up the fair trade brand as well as assisting in any Valentine’s day themed fundraising.

Compassionate Consumerism: How to be a Fair Trade Valentine

Join us on January 25th at 1pm ET as we discuss the impact and importance of Fair Trade certified ingredients with Ellen Reed, owner of Lake Champlain Chocolates.

We will also take time to chat with Kristina Kaiser the organizer of The River Church South campaign in Quincy, MA. Being that her campaign is six years old, this will be a great time to pose any questions you may have on how to improve your own campaign’s outreach!

Fair Trade Valentine

Let’s take time this Valentine’s Day to spread love to the countless individuals who produce the Fair Trade goods we work so hard to promote!

Our Fair Trade Valentine program provides all those interested with Valentine’s Day card templates that can be filled out and mailed to Fair Trade Campaigns. Your cards will then be sent to Fair Trade farms and cooperatives as a thank you to all the individuals that provide us with our wonderful Fair Trade products.

Fair Trade Is More Than Chocolate!

Recommendations from the Northeast Leadership Team

The members of the Northeast Leadership Team (pictured above) know that when discussing Fair Trade products it’s common to center our conversations on products such as cocoa and coffee. Former Northeast Fellow and current Leadership Team member, Travis Brodbeck, thought it would be beneficial to highlight some of his favorite, yet less common brands below.

Mayan Hands is a Fair Trade organization that allows for impoverished Mayan woman to utilize their renown skills as textile artisans to provide for themselves and their families. They produce many accessories such as wallets and portfolios.

Senda Athletics produces Fair Trade soccer balls. Each ball even comes with a Fair Trade seal to prove it!

Pact is a Fair Trade clothing producer. They are well known for the exceptionally soft products.
