Hobart & William Smith Colleges Announce Completion of 5 MW Solar System
With support from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the completed five-megawatt solar project consists of two solar arrays, each providing 2.5 megawatts of clean energy. Containing more than 15,000 solar panels, the system will provide enough power for approximately 50 percent of the campus’ electric needs and provide students with hands-on experience in clean energy learning.

Using Campus and Community as Sustainability Living Learning Labs

Furman University is offering an interactive idea-generating workshop, June 7-8, designed to share and establish best practices to utilize the campus and surrounding community as Sustainability Living Learning Labs. The workshop is intended for faculty and sustainability staff who are currently using sustainability living learning labs on their campus or in their surrounding community. This two-day workshop will focus on building a shared framework for developing, institutionalizing, expanding and maintaining a sustainability living learning lab program both on campus and in the surrounding community. Furman University is one of 13 regional AASHE Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum. The deadline to apply is April 9.

Judges Needed for the AASHE Sustainability Awards

AASHE is seeking judges to help evaluate submissions for the Campus Sustainability Achievement, Campus Sustainability Research and Student Sustainability Leadership Awards. Sign up by May 18.

AASHE Member Discount: Intentional Endowments Network Membership

AASHE members can receive a discount on membership with the Intentional Endowments Network. The discount amount is dependent upon endowment size. The offer expires Dec. 31.

2018 Green Sports Alliance Summit Poster Session

Green Sports Alliance is accepting poster submissions as part of its 2018 Green Sports Alliance Summit in Atlanta, June 26-27. A poster session will be offered exclusively for universities, colleges and other academic institutions focusing on sustainability in athletics and/or recreation. The poster sessions will run throughout the summit with dedicated time in the conference program for presenting posters. The deadline to submit is April 6.

Social Educator Impact Toolkit: The Impact Gaps Canvas and Map the System

The Social Educator Impact Toolkit is a toolkit designed for educators to help put systems-led teaching into practice. It includes ideas for short workshops and full courses as well as tips for adjusting funding practices, social impact business plan competitions and accelerator programs.

Third-Party Sustainability Certifications & Memberships on Decision-Making Survey

Developed as a senior research project out of Messiah College, this survey attempts to understand the impact of third-party certifications and memberships on decision-making pertaining to environmental practices at higher education institutions.

Beyond Doom and Gloom: Engage in Climate Solutions

Created by the Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEASC), this resource offers teachers and students simple steps to participate in American democracy and encourages energy policies to reduce climate instability. It can be used as a supplement to finish any course or activity on climate change.
