March 8th is International Women’s Day, but in Burlington, we are celebrating on the eve of IWD on March 7.
We invite you to join us and the rest of the world in celebrating and honoring the women and girls of the planet. Let’s use this day to commit ourselves to ensuring the rights of women of all ages so they can lead secure, creative, healthy, and free lives. Imagine a world where women and girls are equal and free.
Each year we honor three local women who have distinguished themselves through their work with women and girls in the community.
This year’s honorees are:
Sue Gillis, publisher of “Vermont Woman,” a local newspaper Barbara Jordan, a fitness expert, and advocate Dolly Fleming, director of Mercy Connections
This year we are making a special award (in absentia) to:
Tarana Burke, originator of the “Me Too” movement
Guest Speaker:
Robin Lloyd, of the Women’s League for Peace and Freedom
We invite you to come meet and converse with the diverse women of our community taste some delicious treats learn about ways in which women impact our community and the world.
