JOIN THE OFFICE FORCE – VNA of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties is looking for a volunteer to serve 3 hours a day or more, one or two days a week their Colchester office. A working knowledge of Word and Excel is needed. Tasks include data entry, copying and scanning. Background check required. Contact Angel Means at 658-1900 or email means@vnacares.org.
PLANT SALE – Burlington Dismas House is seeking one or two passionate gardeners to manage their 16th Annual Plant Sale. These volunteers should be able to identify perennials and enjoy working with energetic teams of volunteers. Tasks will also include helping with the marketing of the sale. 3-hour shifts (9 a.m.-Noon or 1-4 p.m.) for 4 weeks from April 25th to May 25 culminating with the sale. BLOOD DRIVE – American Red Cross Blood Services needs Registration Volunteers to welcome donors, track & organize donors and lists, answer questions, etc. Blood drives are typically 4-6 hours long, and volunteers can work a whole or half shift. TUTOR! TUTOR! – Mercy Connections would like to welcome new, qualified volunteers to tutor adults on-site in their Education and Transition Tutorials. Volunteers with educational experience are matched one-on-one with a student or with a small group of students, 2-3 hours on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings. Students may need support with college homework, basic math, reading and writing skills or preparation for the GED test, and each student has an individual learning plan. Training is provided. MENTOR! MENTOR! – Spectrum Youth & Family Services Mentoring Program is in search of mentors, particularly male identified mentors, LGBTQ+ mentors and mentors of color to serve as healthy adults in the lives of area youth. Mentors should be 21 or older, living in Chittenden County who can dedicate 4 hours a month for one year to a deserving mentee in a fun and respectful relationship. SHARING SPECIAL TIMES – Watershed Mentoring is seeking mentors age 18 and older for school aged children and adolescents that are “at promise” in Franklin County. Community-based mentors meet with youth for an hour or 2 in the community year round; school-based mentors meet with a child during school lunch and recess for an hour while school is in session. IN THE KITCHEN – Martha’s Kitchen needs volunteers to help with prepping, serving and cleaning and just taking time to sit and share moments with guests. A FRIENDLY GREETING – Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity needs volunteer greeters for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to welcome clients and help them fill out forms.
