Local Motion has started a petition calling on the Burlington City Council to make Burlington safe for walking and biking. Why now? Because Burlington is drafting its first-ever walk-bike master plan, and in early 2016, City Council will vote on it. There will be pushback from people who don’t think any change is needed, and City Council needs to hear loud and clear that Burlingtonians want a better city for walking and biking.
We need a whole lot of help to reach our goal of 1000 signatures by the end of the year. Are you in? Here’s what you can do right now:
- Sign the petition yourself. It’s online at: https://bit.ly/BTV4bikes
- Share the link with friends and family and encourage them to sign on
Once you sign on, watch for an email in the next week from Local Motion about signing up for a volunteer training. We’re looking for people who want to go door to door in their neighborhood, table at school or work, canvass downtown where people are walking and biking, and so on. If you sign the petition, you’ll get an invitation to the training, plus free pizza and a t-shirt if you show up!
Pedal on…
