Hello!
I’d like to invite you to an evening of music with Burlington’s own Me2/ Orchestra! We will be playing a FREE concert at UVM’s Davis Center on Thursday 3/5 at 7:30 pm.
On the program:
- The Karelia Suite by Jean Sibelius: This has three movements – the Intermezzo, the Ballade, and the Alla Marcia. Sibelius is Finnish, and you can absolutely hear it in Karelia
- The second movement (Andante Con Moto) from Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony: it’s lush, gorgeous, and a little moody.
- Resurgences by Robert Sheldon: A modern piece that is pure joy and exhilaration
Me2/ is the world’s only classical music organization created for individuals with mental illnesses and the people who support them. The orchestra in Burlington was launched in Fall 2011, and there are now affiliate orchestras in Boston, MA and Manchester, NH. As part of the concert program, some musicians from the orchestra will share their personal experiences living with mental illness. We also have a fantastic audience Q&A part that is always a blast!
Your Champlain Connections: I play clarinet and Kate Ford (Assistant Director for Housing Operations, Residential Life, and Community Standards) plays violin. A group of our Social Impact Scholars will also be attending the concert as they learn about Social Impact and the Fine Arts.
We hope you’ll be able to join us! We always love seeing familiar faces in the audience! Please let me know if you have any questions!
Also: Mark your calendars – The Vermont Symphonic Winds will be playing at the Statehouse in Montpelier on Wednesday, March 25 as part of the Farmer’s Night series. More info to come!
