I wanted to send a kind reminder to let you know that UVM is hosting the 2020 Northeast Queer and Trans People of Color (NEQTPOC)! The conference is taking place from March 20th-21st in the Davis Center (primarily the 4th floor) and our theme this year is Alive in Ancestry: We Existed, Are Existing, and Will Continue to Exist. Registration is open and free, so please encourage your QTBIPOC (queer and trans black, indigenous, and people of color) students and colleagues to join by filling out this form.
The Northeast Queer & Trans People of Color (NEQTPOC) Conference strives to provide unity, empowerment, education, visibility, and validation for all queer- and trans- identifying people of color in the northeast region of the United States. We are excited to invite you to build, connect, and celebrate with us!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the conference, it originated here at UVM in 2014 and we are very excited to have a QTPOC-led organizing committee bring this essential conference back to UVM! The NEQTPOC Committee believes all students, staff, and faculty should feel that there is an institutional commitment to their identity development. Supporting folx with multiple marginalized identities is not only a challenge for UVM but for the greater Northeast region. I invite all of you, your students, and community members to participate in a conference providing QTBIPOC affinity space to address the social and political aspects and intersections of our experiences. Please share with your communities the actual links to our registration page, Facebook page, and website.
