Northeast Kingdom Map
The Third Edition of our Northeast Kingdom Hiking Trail Map is out! This map has been updated to include the new Kingdom Heritage Trail on Middle Mountain and Bluff Ridge and the trail relocation on Wheeler Mountain. (Digital version also available.)
2020 GMC Calendar
The 2020 GMC Calendar features photographs of classic trail scenes by GMC members, staff, and photo contest winners; holidays and moon phases; and quotes from the journals of End-to-Enders. Start plannng your 2020 adventures with inspiring scenery to help.
Enter the GMC Pumpkin Carving Contest
Carve your best jack-o’-lantern and share the photo for a chance to win a GMC Klean Kanteen Steel Pint and a GMC Tote Bag!
The carving should be related to the Long Trail, hiking, or mountains. Winners will be chosen for Most Creative, Staff Favorite, and Executive Director’s Pick.
Here’s what you have to do:

Starvation Shore Reading with Laura Waterman

Green Mountain Club, Waterbury Center
Join us this Thursday! Laura Waterman will talk about and sign copies of Starvation Shore, her historical novel about the tragic 1881 Greely Expedition to the Arctic. Laura, an environmentalist and outdoor enthusiast, draws upon the historic records, diaries and letters of the men to reimagine the true story of these polar explorers fighting for their lives and their sanity. Books will be available for sale courtesy of Bear Pond Books.
Gazing Over Green Beer Release for GMC
Thursday, October 24th, 4:30-7:30PM
Burlington Beer Company, Williston
Join the Green Mountain Club and Burlington Beer Company for a beer release party of Gazing Over Green, a new limited release New England IPA made in collaboration with REI Co-Op and with 10% of sales to benefit GMC. Meet other GMC members and hiking enthusiasts to enjoy a great pint! A raffle benefiting the Green Mountain Club will include prizes from BBCO, GMC, and REI.
Visitor Center Hours
As hiking season wraps up, the GMC Visitor Center hours change too. Starting today, we are moving to winter hours and will now be open Monday through Thursday, 10am-4pm (except Tuesdays we open at 11am due to staff meetings).

Barnes Camp
Thank you so much to the GMC volunteers who staffed the Barnes Camp Visitor Center at Smugglers’ Notch again this year. They spoke with and helped over 12,000 visitors just on weekends during the hiking season!
