ON SCHEDULE – American Red Cross Blood Services is looking for a Volunteer Scheduler to help out at blood drives and at the Burlington Donor Center. This is mainly phone and email work for about 3 hours a week and can be done from home or at Red Cross offices. Volunteer should be familiar with computers and Excel spreadsheets. BUILD A DREAM – Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity invites volunteers, age 18 and older, to join them for a “build day,” to help a local family build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. The current build in Burlington’s old north end from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Prior construction experience is not necessary but is appreciated. GLEANERS NEEDED – Vermont Foodbank is seeking volunteers to join them in the fields to harvest and gather excess produce or “seconds” from local farms. This type of food rescue will enable the Foodbank to provide delicious, healthy foods to customers who might not otherwise have access to local produce. CHILD ADVOCATES – Guardian ad Litem Program is recruiting volunteers in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties to make a difference in a child’s life. Guardians visit monthly with the child, collect collateral information to relevant to the important factors and people in the child’s life, represent to a Judge what he or she feels is in the child’s best interest, explain the court process to the child, and consult with the child’s attorney.
