On February 16, 2019, at the NOFA-VT Winter Conference, organizers held a tribute to Enid Wonnacott, executive director of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont for the past 31 years. Enid was a deeply committed advocate for organic farming and the agricultural community at large. Led by Peter Forbes, the tribute features remarks by farmers Jack Lazor (Butterworks Farm), Scout Proft (Someday Farm), Andy Jones (Intervale Community Farm), Enid’s husband Harry, and a musical performance by Chris Dorman.

Young chefs compete 3/16 in Essex

Jr Iron Chef VT is a statewide culinary competition—presented by VT FEED, a collaboration between NOFA-VT & Shelburne Farms—challenging student teams to create nutritious, local dishes that inspire school meal programs. Come cheer on the teams, purchase lunch at the concession stands, and play in the Activity Room (games, art, snacks, photo booth, and the “smoothie bike”) during the competition! Plan your visit »

Volunteers needed for Jr Iron Chef VT

During the event weekend (Friday March 15th & Saturday March 16th), dozens of volunteers help with set-up, team registration, activities, and clean-up. Volunteers receive free admission to Jr Iron Chef VT. All volunteer hours are eligible for the City Market Member Worker program.  Sign up here »

New organic study

A new study shows that an organic diet is healthier, and worth the cost. Levels of toxic pesticides in participants’ bodies dropped up to 95% after just one week of switching to an organic diet.
