CRITICAL NEED – Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteer drivers in Burlington and South Burlington to deliver hot, nutritious meals to home bound elders. Drivers pick up food at central locations and deliver to elders along a route. Volunteers also chat with elders and report any changes and/or concerns to staff. Flexible time commitments from 1 weekday a week to 1 weekday a month from about 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Local businesses looking for a chance to give back are encouraged to adopt a route in their community! SAFE & WARM – Community Health Centers of Burlington needs volunteers at their low-barrier shelter for those experiencing homelessness. Volunteers help guests have access to relationships with the larger community, support guests getting settled in by showing them around, getting snacks, help with meal service at 6:30 each night, provide entertainment such as music, storytelling, conversation, etc. The Shelter offers services from November 1 through June 15 each day from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Volunteers can commit to one shift every week or every other week. BUILDING HOMES – Franklin/Grand Isle Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers to help with construction of 2 single story ranch style homes in St. Albans. Individuals and groups with all levels of skills (framing, sheathing, shingle roofing, window installing, insulating, siding, drywall, painting, flooring, general labor) are needed. Work will be done on Saturdays, weather permitting, typically from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact them at FGIHabitatbuild@gmail.com.
WOOFS AND MEOWS – Franklin County Animal Rescue invites volunteers to help animals begin their day by providing morning animal care. Tasks include preparing and feeding, keeping spaces clean, and socializing with the animals. Training provided. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Shifts from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday through Friday. There is also need for evening animal care with feeding and getting animals comfortable for the night. SCORE BIG! – Vermont SCORE is dedicated to fostering vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. They are looking for an Education Series Director for their no-cost monthly educational events on topics relevant to small business owners. One mid-week night per month through November 30th. They are also looking for volunteer mentors to help small business owners achieve personal and financial success. Training and support provided.
