IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN – AARP Tax-Aide in Vermont is the largest, free, volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service. They are looking for volunteers from February through April 15th to prepare federal, state and local tax returns for middle and low-income taxpayers with special attention to those age 60 and older. TIME TO SHARE? – Bayada Hospice invites volunteers with a few hours to spend to share time with a hospice patient in St. Albans. Hold a hand, sing a song, read a story, share a hobby – 30 minutes of your time can make a huge difference. Training is provided. Interview and background check required. HUMAN RESOURCES – Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers for its Resource Development Committee, specifically those with event planning expertise and/or experience with fundraising. OVER A BARREL – Toys for Kids has need of an on-call volunteer to help with emptying toy donation barrels, barrel delivery and other tasks from November 5th through December 21st. The volunteer should have a truck large enough to hold a barrel and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Mileage reimbursement available. Contact John Welsh at 872-0354.
BOOKS FOR KIDS – Fletcher Free Library is gearing up for its Burlington’s Books for Children Gift Campaign and is looking for a volunteer to sort donated children’s picture books. CHILD CARE – Prevent Child Abuse Vermont has need of friendly adult volunteers to play with children on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in St. Albans while foster and adoptive families meet and talk.
