2018 Campaign Internship
The Friends of Bernie Sanders campaign is seeking passionate high school and college-aged individuals interested in gaining valuable experience in community-based organizing. Those in the Internship program will be an essential part of our team and contribute greatly to the success of the campaign. Candidates for this program should be driven, willing to learn, and easily self-motivated.
Background and Responsibilities:
In 2014, Vermont saw the lowest voter turnout in a midterm election since 1950. Currently, nearly 70,000 Vermonters are eligible to vote, but are not registered.
Our team is focused on addressing both of these horrendous realities. It is a central goal of this campaign to engage disenfranchised communities through a strong grassroots organizing program and greatly improve voter participation and education.
With your help, Friends of Bernie Sanders will:
- Increase voter turnout and voter registration
- Expand youth involvement
- Organize and engage disenfranchised communities
Program participants, with the guidance of campaign staff, will be expected to:
- Register new voters
- Canvas and knock on doors
- Help plan, organize and execute campaign events
- Develop and update constituent databases
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers
Internships will, where appropriate, be based out of their own communities with regular visits to the campaign headquarters in Burlington, Vermont. All internships will be paid $15.00 an hour or completed for school credit, and expected to commit to 10-20 hours per week through Election Day, November 6, 2018.
How to apply:
Interested individuals should email an application complete with cover letter, resume and brief essay responses to Jordan Renouf, jordanrenouf@berniesanders.com by 8PM Wednesday, September 19.
