MARATHON – It’s Vermont City Marathon & Relay time again, and RunVermont is looking for corporate groups, non-profit groups, sports teams, students, church groups and families to help make this 30th annual event a great success. Shifts are available throughout May and on race day May 27th. Volunteers receive an official t-shirt and a ticket for Lake Monsters opening day! ON THE RUN – Girls on the Run, Vermont is planning a celebration of and for girls completing a 10-week season of programming with a 5K non-competitive event on June 2 at the Champlain Valley Expo. GREEN THUMBS NEEDED – Burlington Dismas House is seeking volunteers to help fill pots with transplants for its 16th Annual Plan Sale. Tuesday and Friday morning and afternoons shifts through May 22nd. Contact Zoe at 658-0381 or email zoe@dismasofvt.org.
PRESERVING THE PAST, BUILDING THE FUTURE – Shelburne Museum is looking for volunteers to help with woodworking, painting, restoration/preservation of the Ticonderoga, furniture restoration and caning, grounds maintenance and administrative skills. ON PARADE – Essex Parade Committee is in need of volunteers for the Essex Memorial Day parade on May 26th from 8 a.m.- Noon. Volunteers can marshal and walk with the parade, help with parade lineup at the Fair Grounds, help with setup and cleanup, parking, and more. MAKE IT SPECIAL – Special Olympics Vermont invites volunteers to help at the UCS Bocce Tournament and the 2018 Summer Games. The Bocce Tournament takes place on June 1st from 8:30 a.m. at UVM’s Virtue Field. Volunteers can help with court setup, court monitoring, score keeping, and more. ON THE TRAIL – City of Winooski is seeking Trail Crew Volunteers age 16 and older who love the outdoors and wildlife. Tasks include in building, maintaining and restoring trails at city-owned parks to prevent erosion and to make them safe for users. PACK IT UP! – Salvation Farms is looking for volunteers to help move surplus Vermont crops into the community. Volunteers will handle bulk quantities of produce and prepare it for distribution through the charitable food system. Three-hour shifts available from May 10th on.
