TO THE SLOPES! – The City of Winooski’s Ski Cubs program offers a free 6-week learn-to-ski program for Vermont youth, ages 7-14, hosted by the Catamount Trail Association. An adult volunteer is needed to ride the bus with the youngsters and serve as chaperone during the ski trip. Background check required. HOUSE STAFF – Ronald McDonald House Charities is looking for volunteers to help provide caring support to guest families, register incoming guests, check-out guests, answer phones, and occasionally help keep the Ronald McDonald House clean and orderly with light housekeeping tasks. Other volunteer opportunities include making cookies, preparing a dessert or a dinner meal for guest families, assisting with housekeeping chores, or serving as weekend/holiday overnight relief managers (Friday 9 p.m. to Saturday noon; or Saturday from 6 p.m. to Sunday noon). ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN – Prevent Child Abuse Vermont needs volunteers to help advocate for children in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. Volunteers should be comfortable working within the Court System on behalf of children. 6-10 hours per month. Training provided. SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION – Green Mountain Animal Defenders is involved with many facets of animal protection and has a vital web presence. They are seeking a volunteer familiar with search engine optimization to help them achieve maximum website visibility. The organization is also looking for an event planner/fund raiser to help with events such as bake sales, raffles, silent auctions, social media donations, and yard sales. BUILDING TRADES VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – The DREAM Program is seeking volunteers with experience in carpentry, building trades and other skilled labor for facility maintenance and new construction at the Camp DREAM property. PUBLICITY/MEDIA – Protect Our Wildlife Vermont needs volunteers to initiate and maintain contacts with local media sources to publicize events and to compose and distribute public service announcements about animal welfare issues. SUPPORTING YOUTH – ReSOURCE is offering youth education and Youth Build academic support internships to qualified volunteers. The Youth Education Interns provide one-on-one employment skills training to youth with developmental and learning challenges by developing and implementing curriculum with the support of staff. YouthBuild Academic Support Interns support and assist Youth Build instructors in creating skills-development assignments and researching placement opportunities for trainees. College juniors or seniors enrolled in an education or social work program would be ideal candidates. 4-8 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
