Are you passionate about carsharing? Are you intrigued by the idea of working with a small group of incredibly passionate (and fun!) people? Do you want to work for a local non-profit doing important work in our community? We are looking to hire for two positions here at CarShare Vermont, one full-time and one part-time. Take a look at the positions below and follow the links to view the full job descriptions.

Operations Manager

CarShare Vermont is looking for an experienced Operations Manager. We offer a fun and creative environment, plenty of interesting and challenging work, and the opportunity to learn and grow within our organization. This is a full-time position with an anticipated start date in April. If you’re interested in learning more, please see the full job description here.

Weekend On-Call Assistant

As members will know, CarShare Vermont provides 24/7 on-call service to assist our members when emergency situations arise outside of business hours. We’ve got some exciting changes coming!

This summer you can expect to see some new technology features geared to make your sharing experiences even better. We’ll be transitioning to new systems, including both the software we use to facilitate reservations and the hardware that gives you access to our cars with a swipe of your fob. This project will be a huge undertaking for CarShare Vermont, but we’re confident that the end result will be a service that’s even easier to use, more reliable, and smarter.

What can you look forward to?

Here are a few of the features we’re most excited about:

  • The ability to use a smart phone or your trusted fob to lock and unlock a vehicle’s doors.
  • Real-time billing – that’s right, you’ll be charged for your actual costs at the time of your trip, not an estimate.
  • The ability to extend or change your reservation right from a device in the vehicle.

We plan to begin this technology transition later this spring with an anticipated launch date in late June. We’re looking forward to the significant upgrades this project promises to provide, and we are also preparing to make the transition as smooth as possible. In the coming months we’ll keep you posted and offer more details about the timeline and what changes you can expect.

We also feel it is important to share that while we’re truly excited about the important improvements this new technology will provide, we had not been planning to undertake this major project, at least not now. Last fall, the technology provider we had been satisfied with since our launch 2008 was purchased by a large multi-national car rental company. The acquiring company required our provider to stop serving its independent car-sharing customers across the globe – this included a number of community-based nonprofits like CarShare Vermont.

While we were forced to find a new car-sharing technology vendor, we definitely view this transition as an opportunity to improve our systems. We spent several months extensively researching and interviewing prospective technology partners, and we’ve landed on one that we believe will deliver our members a superior experience while also making our back-end operations more efficient. Stay tuned during the coming months and please be in touch with any questions.
