Want to stop junk mail? Here’s how!

Story of Stuff Project
Junk mail got you down?

Register for Catalog Choice and stop junk mail senders in their tracks.

How many pieces of junk mail did you receive in the last week? The last month?

Whether it’s credit card offers or phone books, junk mail is a nuisance for all of us. In fact, 100 billion pieces of junk mail are mailed to U.S. households every year – and the majority end up in the trash without having ever been opened.

What a waste!

The Story of Stuff Project wants to help stop waste at its source, whether that’s bottled water, plastic microbeads or unwanted catalogs.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’ve acquired Catalog Choice, a free online service that helps members reduce junk mail.

Over the last eight years, Catalog Choice has helped nearly 2 million people reduce unwanted mail, eliminate clutter, and simplify their lives. And member opt-outs have helped save nearly 1 million trees!

Sign up for Catalog Choice and start reducing your paper waste today.

Here’s how it works:

1. Create your free account.

2. Add your personal information under My Profile.

3. Search for companies and submit opt-out requests. Your mailbox should be less cluttered in about 2 months!

We’re excited to provide a new home for Catalog Choice for two reasons: first, to help protect the precious natural resources that are currently going to waste. And second, to provide Catalog Choice members with opportunities to help protect the planet alongside the 1 million+ members of the Story of Stuff Community. Together, this group of dedicated waste fighters will become a force to be reckoned with!

We’ve been hard at work updating the Catalog Choice platform to make it the best it can be. Early next year, with support from both Catalog Choice and Story of Stuff Project members, we’ll be launching an even better Catalog Choice website. In the meantime, we’re open for business and ready to help reduce your junk mail.

Sign up today, and help us stop paper waste at the source.

Together, we can stop junk mail for good!
