My name is Brittany and I work with 350Vermont. As we often do this time of the semester, I’d like to let you all know about the 3 internship positions we have for next semester. To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter and two writing samples to Brittany Dunn, brittany@350vt.org. If you have any questions about any of the positions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Brittany.
Many thanks, Brittany
Intern with 350VT
In each position, we are looking for someone with a commitment to and passion for the 350Vermont mission of building a local movement to stop the climate crisis. We are looking for self-starters with the passion, creativity, and drive to make things happen while working independently and in close coordination with a team.
Outreach Intern
In order to help build momentum in Vermont to stop the climate crisis, outreach is a critical part of the work at 350Vermont. From meeting and connecting with people who are interested in our work to getting out on the streets in support of one of our campaigns, the Outreach Intern will support our base building efforts throughout the state. Specific work responsibilities will include planning the logistics for each event and/or project (what, where, when, how); recruiting volunteers for the events and to help with the project as necessary; planning logistics (setting up, and making the event run smoothly); and post-event evaluation. This is a great opportunity to learn about base building and grassroots campaigning. Ideal skills include good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A background in climate justice is desired, as well as the interest to learn more about this work.
Policy Intern
We envision our Policy Intern supporting our Divestment Campaign and our Carbon Pollution Tax Campaign. Both campaigns have bills to be introduced in the State House at the start of the 2016 Legislative Session. The Intern would support outreach, public education forums, tabling at local events, press and social media, and preparing presentations. This person will work with our coalition of organizations and will get an opportunity to learn about legislative policy. This person will have the chance to learn about and contribute to our other campaigns as they pursue creative new ways to build a movement. In addition to the experience we are looking for, it would be helpful for this intern to have experience in the climate movement and in media and web systems. Ideally, some of this experience will include cross-class/race/generational organizing and experience in coalition-building.
Climate Justice Intern
This intern will support our team with planning and carrying out events related to our climate justice and public education efforts. Work will include working with a staff member to plan logistics for events and leading outreach efforts. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in working as a part of a coalition, to learn grassroots organizing and to be fully supported and mentored by experienced staff. Our team is an inclusive and collaborative group that is committed to the principles of justice. We’re looking for an individual who is creative, hard working, organized, dedicated, self-motivated, and a fast learner. Ideally, this intern will have experience in cross-class/race/generational organizing and experience in coalition-building.
