Just the heads-up that I have invited an amazing speaker on gender issues to speak on Thursday, October 29th at 5:30 in Joyce 201. Dr. Dave Landers is the author of, “I Wish He’d Taught Me How to Shave,” and jet-sets all over the country to speak on these hot topics. He is dynamic and humorous while tackling the must be talked about issues that are so prevalent in our society today.
The book itself is about our relationships with our fathers (which of course all of us can relate to even if Dad is no longer with us) and what we learned from Dad about what it means to be a man. Dave talks about the impact this relationship has for both men and women as we carry it along with us deep into adulthood.
Dave addresses the “performances” of both masculinity and femininity, the expectations and challenges of today’s society and how gender affects who we are, how we interact, and how others interact with us.
This is a “must hear!”
Hope to see you there!
And, light refreshments will be served of course.
