Funding Available for Community Projects
AARP is now accepting applications for its Community Action Sponsorship Program. This program will provide funding to Burlington neighborhood groups and small non-profits for projects that advance the recommendations of the Burlington Livable Community Project. Priority areas for funding include projects that create more transportation and housing options and those that foster multi-cultural and intergenerational connections. We are most interested in supporting groups focused on education and advocacy to improve their community in the following areas:
– Affordable housing options for older residents
– Delivery of services to help older residents age in the setting of their choice
– Pedestrian infrastructure (sidewalks, amenities for walkers, public art, safe street crossings, navigation, etc.)
– Public transit
– Fostering intergenerational and multi-cultural connection
– Financial security for low income older residents
– Socialization and fostering community connection for older residents
– Education and awareness about LGBTQ elders
– Community accessibility for disabled residents
AARP will select up to four groups for one-year funding in the range of $500-$2,000 each. Deadline for applications is September 30, 2015. Information on the sponsorship program along with a downloadable RFP and application can be found at www.blcp.org.
