Re-Post from 350VT:
350 Vermont and our allies have been leading an active campaign to divest Vermont’s state pension funds from financially risky and morally bankrupt fossil fuel companies. We have two bills in Vermont’s legislature (S.28 and H.229), as well as a non-binding House resolution (J.R.H.6). This session, we’ve hosted youth events, given testimony, and engaged our law- and policymakers in Montpelier. Now, we invite you to learn more about state pension divestment and personal portfolio divestment during our two-part Spring Divestment Series. Each event will feature a panel of experts and ample time for questions. Hope to see you there!

Vermont Carbon Risk Forum on April 28th
and
Personal Divestment Seminar on May 2nd
____________
At our Carbon Risk Forum on Tuesday, April 28th, we will listen to a panel of experts speak to legislators and Vermont Pension Investment Committee members (and us!) about the moral and financial imperative of divesting Vermont’s pension funds from fossil fuels. Kathy Blume of Vermontivate! will moderate a panel that includes Beth Sawin of Climate Interactive, Bill McKibben of 350.org, Eric Becker of Clean Yield Asset Management, and Matthew Patsky of Trillium Asset Management. Q&A will follow. RSVP here.
What? Carbon Risk Forum
When? 6:30-8pm
Where? Unitarian Church of Montpelier
Why? To avoid catastrophic climate change, most fossil fuels must remain unburned. Global consensus is emerging for aggressive climate legislation that will restrict fossil fuels, resulting in stranded assets. Come learn what this means for Vermont’s pension funds.
Presented by 350 Vermont & the Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club
Sponsored by Progressive Asset Management, Unitarian Church of Montpelier, & Skinny Pancake

Then, our Personal Divestment Seminar on Saturday, May 2nd will bring another panel of experts to speak about the ins and outs of personal divestment. If you’re curious about how you can divest your own portfolio from fossil fuels, come listen to Dan Quinlan of Divestor.org, Karin Chamberlain of Clean Yield, Harris Roen of The Roen Report, Jake Ide of Vermont Community Loan Fund, and Tom Francis of Fossil Free Indexes, LLC speak. Q&A and refreshments will follow. RSVP here.
What? Personal Divestment Seminar
When? 3:30-5pm panel, 5-6pm reception with refreshments
Where? Main Street Landing, Burlington
Why? Your investments matter! Personal divestment can be easy, even if you’re risk-averse. Plus, personally divesting from fossil fuels offers the chance to reinvest in a new, just, green economy. Bring your questions and concerns to our panel!
