Love to bike? Fired up about walking and running?
We’ve got two great options for you!
OPTION 1: THE NATIONAL BIKE CHALLENGE. This is a five-month challenge for folks who love to bike lots of miles and want to compete all summer long with people from across the country. More info at www.nationalbikechallenge.org.OPTION 2: THE VERMONT BIKE/WALK CHALLENGE. This is a one-month challenge for anyone who wants to get out, get active, and have fun along the way — then move on and do other things for the rest of the summer. Register here: Vermont Bike/Walk Challenge.
You probably already got an email about the National Bike Challenge, which is now run by a fabulous national organization called People for Bikes. It’s pretty much exactly the same as last year, with lots of bells and whistles and a laser focus on getting more people biking more often for more miles. If that floats your boat, go for it!
But this email is about something different: The Vermont Bike/Walk Challenge.
In true Vermont spirit, we have seceded from the Nation…al Bike Challenge. Why? Because, while the National Bike Challenge is awesome, Vermonters are unique. What works for the rest of the country isn’t necessarily what works for us. So we’ve decided to do our own challenge! Sign up at www.vermontbikechallenge.org.
The Vermont Bike/Walk Challenge is…
LOCAL.Run by Vermonters, for Vermonters.Get points for doing Way to Go or Vermontivate!
SIMPLE.Just one month long.Super-streamlined website.
ACCESSIBLE.Walking (and running) counts too!Earn points for trips, not miles. (We’ve got some juicy prizes, too!)
The Vermont Bike/Walk Challenge starts on Saturday, May 16 (the day after Way to Go ends) and runs untilFriday, June 12. It’s a nice, short, pithy challenge, and a great way to jump-start your active summer!
