Re-posted from UVM:
Join us for a Food Chain$ screening and panel discussion!
Wednesday April 1, 6:30 pm
Livak Ballroom
4th Floor Davis Center, UVM
From a producer of Food Inc. and Fast Food Nation, Food Chains is an award-winning documentary about the workers who pick our food. In this exposé, an intrepid group of Florida farmworkers battle to defeat the $4 trillion global supermarket industry through their ingenious Fair Food Program, which partners with growers and retailers to improve working conditions for farm laborers in the United States.
Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with farmworkers and organizers from Migrant Justice (VT) and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (FL), moderated by Barry Estabrook, Food Chains co-producer and author of Tomatoland. We will learn about Milk with Dignity, a local campaign that has just been launched by Migrant Justice with the guidance of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers.
The event is free. Donations will be collected to benefit the work of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and Migrant Justice.
Registration encouraged, not required:
