Hiring: Ecology Programs Director
The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is looking for an outstanding candidate to direct our Ecology Programs. This person will have principal responsibility for maintaining, improving, and expanding LCMM’s On-Water Ecology programs. These include school field trips, youth summer programs, B-Wet teacher-training workshops and general public programs.
Among the vital tasks to be undertaken for the above programs are: assuring and reviewing safety protocols; promoting and growing the programs; supervising summer camp program staff; recruiting and supervising volunteers; creating and coordinating on-water projects with other staff; maintaining and developing relationships with client teachers and schools; and fundraising.
Some of the top requirements for the position of Ecology Programs Director:
- B.S. or equivalent experience in natural/environmental science
- At least 2 years (or seasons) leading boat trips
- At least 2 years (or seasons) working with students in a leadership or supervisory role
- Likes working with youth
- Communicates clearly in public
- Resilient and calm under stress and pressure
- Physical condition adequate to conduct in-water rescue, lifting and carrying canoes, paddling in challenging conditions, and enduring cold, rainy, windy weather
Working Parameters & Conditions
- Full-time May-October
- Part-time during winter
