Discover Burlington’s South End – Backstage access to inspiring places!
Dozens of artists and several prominent manufacturers based in the South End are opening their doors for special tours and activities onNovember 21st and 22nd. Get a rare glimpse into the creative process of artists, craftspeople and companies that were founded on creative ideas.
Everyone is invited to participate in one or many of the Crawl activities! The more your participate, the more chances you have to win great prizes!
The South End Crawl Schedule
Friday, 11/21Burton Snowboards [80 Industrial Parkway]
- 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 6pm – Tours of Craig’s Prototype Facility – Departing from the Flagship Store lobby. With over 10,000 square feet and housing the best of Burton’s high-end, custom-built machinery, Craig’s represents a huge investment in snowboard Research & Development (R&D). Although capable of producing thousands of snowboards, Craig’s is purely dedicated to R&D and will only build a handful of experimental snowboards a day. At Craig’s, Burton engineers can experiment with new ideas and feedback that constantly flow into Burton from pro riders, engineers, dealers and customers.
- 4pm-7pm – Chill Zone Open House – Stop by to learn about Chill, Burton’s non-profit foundation that is dedicated to providing opportunities for underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through snowboarding and other board sports.
- 5pm – Time Trippin’ History talk – Hear about Burton’s history in Burlington from Burton Archivist Todd Kohlman, who will share some photos, artifacts, and stories about how Burlington has shaped the company and the sport of snowboarding across the globe. Meet in the lobby in front of the Flagship Store at 5 pm. TK will also offer one more late tour of Craig’s Prototype Facility following his Time Trippin’ segment.
- 5pm-7pm – Crawl Kick-Off Party with a DJ, snacks and drinks in the Flagship Store – Start your weekend off right! Help kick-off the Crawl, and share your thoughts about the South End.
Saturday, 11/22
Lake Champlain Chocolates [750 Pine Street]
- 11am – Factory tour – Visit the Factory Store and take in the aromas and sights — not to mention free samples — of a real chocolate factory!
- 1pm – Thanksgiving Chocolate sculpture demonstration with Emily McCraken, Chocolate Sculptress @South End Kitchen [716 Pine Street]
- PLUS – Sweet Deals on Chocolate all day long at the Factory Store and Free Chocolate Tastings – Don’t miss it!
1pm – Guided photo exploration tour – Meet @ Vintage Inspired, 180 Flynn Ave, #2 (first right over train tracks) – Join our photographer extraordinaire Lee Krohn as well as others on this discovering and exploration tour of part of the South End. Get photography tips from Lee and hear some great stories about the history of the area.
3pm-5pm – Artists and Artisans Open Studios and Tours on Pine Street and Flynn Avenue – Meet at one of the three following hubs to discover the artist studios and makers spaces around that hub. You’ll get to meet the artists and artisans, learn about what they do and why they chose the South End as their creative business location.
