Digital Content Developer

Do you have a passion for environmental stewardship, a great eye for photography, and a knack for storytelling? Are you energetic, collaborative, tech-savvy, and stoked about living and working in the Northeast Kingdom? Are you equally comfortable on winter camping expeditions and on social media? How about doing both at the same time?

The Digital Content Developer will showcase the Sterling College community and curriculum by creating and sharing a variety of compelling and up-to-the-minute content across a range of media platforms targeting multiple audiences. This position is embedded within the community of students and faculty to best tell the Sterling College story.

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the College’s internal and external communication platforms including the website and social media channels, by developing, posting and maintaining written and visual content
  • Creating compelling e-mail blasts for prospective students using the CRM functions of Hobsons Connect
  • Maintaining a database of approved photographic images for internal and external communication uses
  • Creating short videos for use on social media
  • Accompanying classes into the field, joining and documenting all manner of official and unofficial community events, running up mountains to capture content and then running back down to share it with the world

Important qualifications:

  • Knowledge of communication and standards in a web-based information environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other stake-holders
  • Working knowledge of various digital delivery methods for video and photography
  • Working knowledge of social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, YouTube, Vimeo, etc
  • Ability to craft a variety of online content including but not limited to videos, slideshows, and all sorts of funny-tinted instagrammy viral goodness
  • Ability to herd livestock, paddle a canoe, peel garlic, and document the whole delightful business
  • Ability to frequently work nights and weekends

The individual will also need:

  • Ability to conceive, develop, and implement effective messaging and communications strategies based on identification and understanding of target audiences and their interests.
  • Experience using design and multimedia software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred.
  • Experience using WordPress or basic HTML, CSS and content management systems
  • Ability to craft content in the Hobsons Connect CRM and prospective student database
  • A willingness to pitch in, whether that includes mastering a new subject area or communication tool.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences required, field associated with environmental stewardship preferred.

Accountant

The Accountant works independently with support from the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) to assist in managing the College’s financial accounting and management office. This fulltime position reports to the DFO.

The Accountant will:

  • Oversee and process all accounts payable functions.
  • Assist with all accounts receivable functions.
  • Work closely with the Registrar and Financial Aid offices to develop accurate and timely student billings each semester.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Student Accounts
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Assist with all cash account reconciliations
  • Assist, as needed, with the processing and remittance of payroll and related benefits.
  • Assist with overseeing all areas relating to income and expenses.
  • Work closely with the DFO on reporting of financial outcomes.
  • Work closely with the DFO and Sterling College’s audit firm to stay current with relevant accounting practices, help prepare the annual GAAP financial report and the annual 990 filing.
  • Assist in maintaining security over all of the College’s assets, liquid and fixed.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and adhering to accounting policies, practices and financial resolutions.
  • Participate as asked in assorted Board of Trustees meetings and events.
  • Participate as needed in work program activities.
  • Perform other accounting and human resources related duties determined by the DFO to be beneficial to the College.
