May is Bike-Walk Month in Burlington!
For the entire month of May we will be hosting or promoting numerous events in Burlington to celebrate our city’s awesome biking and walking opportunities for everyone!
Events will include Bike Swaps, a Moonlight Ride, Kids Day, a Mothers Day ride, competitions and more! Additionally, when you bring your Bicycle Benefits sticker to select “Bike & Dine” restaurants you will receive a discount!

Spark Catches Fire at First Statewide Walk Bike Summit

More than 250 great minds and eager enthusiasts came together at the first ever statewide Walk Bike Summit, hosted at the Burlington Hilton this past Saturday.
The bicycle and pedestrian culture that is emerging in the Burlington region and throughout Vermont was expressed in the wide variety of lectures, workshops and tours with topics aimed not just at the Lycra-wearing cyclist but the everyday commuter.

New for 2014, the Island Line Bike Ferry will provide daily summer service from June 14th to September 1st.
To make this possible we are putting the finishing touches on wave attenuating docks and a new 16-passenger boat.

Open Streets Coming to BTV this Fall!
Vermont’s first ever Open Streets event is officially in the works! You may know these events as “ciclovia”, where several miles of the city’s largest public space — its streets — are closed for a weekend day to cars and opened to walking, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, dancing and more!
Join us to celebrate active transportation and our growing walk/bike community.

Cycle the City with Us — April 27th! Join us to celebrate spring on the Annual Cycle the City ride, a family friendly, guided, historical cycling tour of Burlington! Ride solo or in a guided tour group…all levels and abilities welcome! Pre-ride festivities at Perkins Pier & post-ride drinks and snacks at Maglianero Cafe. More info on the Cycle the City ride here! Team Up for a Wellness Ride for Women The Wellness Revolution, a partnership between Blue Cross and Blue Shield & Terry Bicycles, is a program for Vermont women who wants cycling to be a part of their lives… no matter how long its been since the last time you’ve ridden. The program runs from April 29 – June 28 and includes an inspirational talk and ride with women’s cycling pioneer, Georgena Terry.

Do You Want More for Your Rural Community? Bring in the Designers!
The Citizens’ Institute on Rural Design will select up to four communities nationwide for a community design makeover. Up to four successful applicants will receive a cash reward and facilitated design workshops.
