350 Vermont March update

350 Vermont March Newsletter
is as follows:
NEK says NO TAR SANDS!
Yesterday, Vermonters again expressed wide concern over the possibility of toxic tar sands being transported through an aging pipeline in the NEK. At least 13 towns – some of them crossed by the 60-year-old pipeline, others nearby – reported that they had passed resolutions expressing concerns and calling for careful environmental review of any proposal regarding tar sands. The towns include Albany, Barton, Charleston, Glover, Hartland, Jay, Richmond, Shelburne, Stannard, Strafford, Sutton, Westmore and Wheelock, adding to a long list of towns that already have passed resolutions!

Beautiful Trouble at the State House
A hardy group of activists descended on the Vermont State House two weeks ago to demand divestment from fossil fuels. Bon courage! We serenaded legislators in the cafeteria with the soon-to-be-viral, “Breaking Up With Fossil Fuels”, sung to the tune of “Breaking Up is Hard to Do.” Momentum is gaining for Vermont to divest. The Senate General Operations Committee is hearing more testimoy on the bill next week. It’s a great time to voice your support!
