Update on Women’s Empowerment Initiative

Hello-

In order to keep you updated on the status of the Women’s Empowerment initiative, below is a summary of upcoming events.  As a reminder, on January 10th, a group of almost 60 faculty, staff and students came together to brainstorm educational programming as well as purpose and outcomes of this initiative.  Since that meeting we have worked with interested parties in developing programming that meets the purpose and outcomes identified in this brainstorm. The following activities are planned for February, March and April:

February:

  • Film:  Girl Rising, hosted by Tarn Foerg (EHS Faculty) – Monday, February 24th, 6pm in Ireland 017.

March:

  • Speaker: Linda Greenlaw – In partnership with the Core division, Linda Greenlaw will be speaking at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, March 12th about her life as a Swordboat Captain.
  • Event: Women’s Empowerment Social Gathering – Friday March 14th.  An opportunity for Champlain community members to network and share possibilities for continued success on Champlain’s campus.
  • Speaker: Rula Quawas – Our Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Rula Quawas, will be giving a talk on “Women of Jordan: Voices of Possibility, Hope, and Truth” on March 19th.
