What technologies and companies exist to facilitate the recycling of additional resources? What are the economics behind the recycling industry? How can universities and other institutions increase their rates of recycling? What are the social, political, ethical, and environmental factors driving the recycling industry?
Waste and Public Health: What dangers to landfills and incinerators pose to environmental, community, and individual health? What are the legal, ethical, social, economic, and environmental factors that influence industry policy and operation? How can the public health impact of landfills, incinerators, and waste be reduced?

The Politics of Waste: What laws, policies, and mandates exist to manage the waste management and recycling industries? How were these laws formed, influenced, and changed over time? What role do communities form in the development of waste management policy? What policy changes could be made to discourage waste and encourage source waste reduction or end-of-pipe recycling? How do the politics of waste differ across states? How do the politics of waste in the United States compare to the politics of waste in other developed nations?
Post-Landfill Blogger: Explores the issues of waste and the stories of solutions through self-directed research and reporting – produce frequent posts to share what you find with other students and the general online public – grow the conversation about waste and become a leading voice.
Carpet and Textiles Recycling: How do carpet and textiles recycling work? What types of carpet are recyclable, and what types of carpet aren’t recyclable? What are the economics behind carpet and textiles recycling? What efforts have worked or haven’t worked to bring carpet and textiles recycling to the post-consumer market?
Upcycling: What is upcycling? How is upcycling currently practiced in households, business, and universities? What is the state and future of the upcycling market? How can upcycling be further promoted as a solution to reduce waste?
