Environmental Education Summer Internship in Burlington Area

The Winooski Valley Park District is happy to announce its new Sustainable Outdoor Leadership and Education summer camp (SOLE Camp)! The mission of SOLE Camp is to educate youth to be conservation stewards and to tread lightly. SOLE pairs adventure with nature. Teaching through exploration and games. Campers learn what it means to be a naturalist and how they can be conservation stewards and leaders.

The program is seeking 1-2 interns interested in environmental and sustainable education to assist with camp programming. This is a great opportunity to gain experience working in the field of natural resource education. This internship may be eligible for college credit.

Winooski Valley Park District
To plan, acquire, and manage lands and waters within the boundaries of its member municipalities in the Winooski River Valley for purposes of conservation, preservation of natural areas, establishment of parks, and resource-based education and recreation.
Environmental Education Intern
The Winooski Valley Park District (WVPD) seeks an environmental education intern to assist with their new summer camp programming. The camp will focus on environmental science and conservation. Programing includes: gardening, hiking, invasive species removal, outdoor ethics, wetland exploration, and wilderness survival. The intern will assist with group management and instruction. There are two camp sessions in June 6/16- 6/20 and 6/23-6/27. As well as two camp sessions in August 8/4-8/8 and 8/11-8/15.
Location: Ethan Allen Homestead, Burlington, VT
Duration: Two weeks in June and August, Must be able to attend camp sessions.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, but may be eligible for college credit.
Qualifications
 Experience with school age children
 Experience in summer camp setting
 Enjoy outdoor recreation and have a desire to share that with youth
 Interest in natural sciences
 First Aid and CPR Certification*
 Pursuing degree in education or the natural sciences*
