Transportation Research Specialist at UVM needed

The UVM Transportation Research Center (TRC) has an opening for a Research Specialist with credentials and experience in data analysis, programming and modeling. The Research Specialist position accomplishes this on research project teams that design data collection including travel surveys, tabulate data including through use of programming languages, conduct statistical analysis of data including modeling and run simulations. The position contributes to the writing of reports, proposals and journal papers including graphical communication of tables, figures, maps and equations. Generation of new knowledge and dissemination are key outcomes of the TRC’s research work. TRC’s research spans traditional disciplines and incorporates both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Responsibilities

Coordinate data management; perform complex analysis and interpret research data; develop and assess quality assurance methods and standards to ensure data integrity; create and maintain evaluation documentation, data files, and records; present results and prepare statistical and administrative reports.

Assist in or develop experiments, protocols, programs, research proposals, and evaluation methods and instruments; oversee research activities; review and evaluate project progress in consultation with the research team and grant PIs.
Contribute to research reports, grant proposals, journal papers and other publications.

The UVM Transportation Research Center (TRC), an interdisciplinary, grant-funded Matrix Center at the University of Vermont is chartered to advance research, education and outreach on sustainable transportation system solutions. Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in math, science or related field and one – two years’ related experience required. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets, programming languages, GIS, simulation models and statistical analysis software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret and analyze scientific and technical journals and reports. Able to produce and edit content for research documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
