Interested in making a difference this academic year? Intern with the Vermont Clean Cities Coalition (VTCCC) and help the nation reduce its dependence on petroleum, lower carbon and local air pollutant emissions, and build a green economy.  The VTCCC is a part of a national network of nearly 100 Clean Cities Coalitions around the nation. The mission of the Clean Cities program is to advance the economic, environmental and energy security of the U.S. by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to reduced petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.

The Vermont Clean Cities Coalition (VTCCC) was initiated in 2001 and since 2006 it has been hosted at the UVM Transportation Research Center. Past and present stakeholders are numerous and diverse, consisting of both individuals and organizations. VTCCC activities have included maintaining information and databases, writing grant proposals, creating public awareness and interacting within the national network of Clean Cities programs.

The VTCCC is looking for an undergraduate or graduate intern to assist with general coalition duties as well as a newly awarded grant to develop a New England Clean Fleet program.  The internship will be for 15 hours for the fall semester and a stipend will be provided.  Please see responsibilities and job requirements below.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research or data analysis needed in the local market.  VTCCC is in the process of working with other coalitions to develop a New England Clean Fleet program. Intern will assist and enhance this effort by conducting research into other green fleet programs and develop a toolkit that introduces the topic, provides recommendations of best practices, and provides suggestions for starting and maintaining such programs. Intern will work with a number of other coalitions and interns in order to gather relevant information and feedback.
  • Provide ideas and assist with the promotion and deployment of AFVs and ATVs on college/school campuses.
  • Enhance local Coalition’s social media efforts and Web site – Intern will assist with developing content on the coalition web site, such as updated information on AFVs and ATVs, local Coalition success stories, and past events.
  • Assist with planning CC outreach events (Advancing the AFV Choice, etc.) – We have a number of events planned for the up-coming school year, including a CNG workshop for fleets, a CNG and Propane First Responders Training, a biodiesel workshop for diesel technicians, and more. Intern will assist with these and other outreach events as needed, specifically with registration, set-up, and photography.
  • Write and distribute press announcements and coordinate media events.

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate (Junior or Senior only), graduate student, or up to one year past graduation.
