Organizational Assistant and Marketing Manager
Who we are: The Peace & Justice Center is a membership-based non-profit organization whose mission is to create a just and peaceful world. Founded in 1979 to do anti-nuclear war work, the current campaigns include Racial Justice, Fair Trade, and Peace Education. We also operate a fair trade and local store on Burlington’s waterfront.
Job Description: Assist the Program Managers on events and programs to support the Racial Justice, Fair Trade, and Peace Programs of the Peace & Justice Center.
Responsibilities include:
• Promote events and programs on social media, public online calendars, and website
• Post relevant articles in conjunction with upcoming events and programs.
• Administrative duties to support events (booking space, registering participants)
• Participant communications (contacting people before, during and after workshops to offer support and gather feedback)
• schedule and staff informational tables at public events
• help train and support program interns and volunteers
• participate in community events as PJC representative
• Create fliers to advertise and educate
• general clerical duties including photocopying, faxing, mailing, and electronic and hard copy filing
Skills and Qualifications:
• experience with Constant Contact, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms
• experience with event planning and promotion
• computer proficient with Microsoft Office and WordPress web software
• ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, collaborate and also work alone
• strong written communication, interpersonal skills and presentation ability
• ability to plan, organize and prioritize with attention to details
• ability to work quickly and accurately
• meaningful connections to communities of color
• graphic design useful but not necessary
