This is the last week of the most important climate talks of the decade. We don’t yet know how the Paris Climate Summit will end, but we do know this:
After negotiators and politicians go home, the climate movement’s work won’t be done — not by a long shot. It will still be up to people to build the better world we know we need, with or without an ambitious global treaty to back us up.
On December 12th, one day after the big U.N. summit is scheduled to end, the people are taking to the streets one more time. We’re going to have the last word.
Here’s what’s happening near you on Saturday:
Jobs, Justice and Climate: Rally to Defend New England’s Future
Saturday, December 12th, 1 PM
Boston Common, Boston, MAThen after the big rally, a second creative action will happen right nearby:
Draw The Line. Save Our Lines.
Saturday, December 12, 3:30 PM
Park St. Station on the Red Line (also on the Green/Orange lines)In Paris, climate activists are coming together in spite of a state of emergency law that limits what is possible in the streets. The action above is in solidarity with them — and with everyone around the world who will face the impacts of climate change, no matter what kind of deal is hammered out this week.
Will you join them on the day that’s now being called simply “D12”?
Thank you for everything you do,
David Stember
P.S. Here’s an example of the kind of work we’ll need to carry forward, with or without a strong international agreement: Just yesterday, folks like you mobilized to shut down a fossil fuel auction that the Obama Administration was holding in DC. More about that win and what’s next here!
