SURVEY INVITATION: BURLINGTON INTEGRATED WATER QUALITY PLAN SURVEY – Closes August 25th

The Water Resources Team is seeking input from the public via an online survey on what our most important considerations should be when planning water quality improvement projects as part of our Integrated Water Quality Plan for stormwater and wastewater.

To take the 8-10 minute survey, please visit https://burlingtonvt.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d99225c30f01e3cae07452420&id=3b9a973077&e=9186873ecc

The survey will be online until August 25.  Please forward to other Burlington residents, business owners, and frequent visitors!

With the benefit of a technical assistance grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, the City of Burlington Water Resources team has been working with TetraTech, an EPA contractor, to pursue Integrated Water Quality planning in response to our various water resource and water quality challenges.

Integrated Water Quality Planning will allow us to:
1)      examine all of our regulatory and operating challenges as a whole vs. piece meal in response to separate permits
2)      identify Burlington’s relative priorities for addressing these challenges (e.g. combined sewer overflows vs. wastewater treatment plant upgrades)
3)      identify Burlington’s preferred tools/types of projects (green infrastructure vs. grey)
4)      address the priorities through appropriate sequencing and scheduling of work based on implemented the highest priority and most cost-effective projects first and
5)      apply a financial capability assessment to ensure a realistic time frame for fully implementing the plan

In order to begin examining the type and extent of projects that will encompass the plan, we need input from the public to tell us what you believe the most important considerations are in spending money on water quality projects.
